Describe the work that you do in your role
I am working as an OAN engineer with leading telecom operator in Pakistan. Here, I am responsible of ensuring maximum network availability round the clock with area of my responsibility.
Mobilink has implemented GSM 900, DCS 1800, EDGE/GPRS and deployed gsm cell sites, Wimax sites, BSCs and OFJAN LDI nodes for access and transmission network in Sialkot region.
My main responsibilities are;
-Maintaining Inter MSC and Core to Access end connectivity. Troubleshoot problem in TXN media. Also resolve issues related to BSC-MSC and inter MSC signaling links.
-Also i do monitor alarms of Motorola BSS network.
-On field troubleshooting, in case of any Access network entity goes down due to Transmission or BSS issue.
-Solve the QoS related problem in BSS network like Zero call issue, no audio/Mute calls
-Make use of Vendor teams to resolve Power/Environmental issues.
-Supervise Preventive Maintenance and Critical Maintenance activities.
-Make audits for monitoring vendor performance. Verify and forward hardware requirement for Operation and maintenance activities.
-Implemention of different types of of integration plans related to MSC, BSC and cell sites.

-Got Rector Medal(Distinction) in BECS, UMT.
-Got 5 times dean Merit list award in BECS, UMT.
-Got Distinction in Dissertation in MS Communication Engineering, University of Manchester,UK.
Describe your success in your professional life and achievements
By Using the education taken from UMT+Some on field experience, it is able to get success in professional life. This is the key which every one follows..and specially for Engineers, the non technical courses helped a lot that many universities do not teach. UMT do it with its students and make them able not only to work but also to live.

What do you remember about your time in ILM / IMT /UMT?
I will never forget my 4 years spent in UMT, especially in UMT lodges.
Study environment was really good here and The faculty was well educated and according to the international standards.
