Khalid Mahmood, Tamgha-i-Imtiaz

Organization Information

Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) is a federally controlled civil armed force. Its basic role is to protect the frontiers of motherland against the hostile acts of enemy. However, deteriorated law and order situation has given reason for Rangers' deployment in the urban areas to restore law and order situation.

Describe the work that you do in your role

I am a team leader of communication section of my organization. Responsible for management, discipline and welfare affairs of under command troops. Correspondence with telecommunication setups, cellular companies, government agencies for flawless and sophisticated communication down to the lowest tier of command. Instructor of refresher courses, promotion cadres and revision of syllabus and policies of the department.

Indicate previous experience and/or areas of career proficiency/achievenments

I am the proud Civil Awardee of Pakistan as President of Pakistan conferred upon me one of the highest civil awards, Tamgha-i-Imtiaz on 14 August 2019 for my long and meritorious services in the fields of public service, academia and research at national and international forums. I have the honor to be the Best Research Paper Presenter at International Conferences at Istanbul, Turkey (2018 and 2019). I have also been conferred with the Departmental Best Performance Award twice. I am the highly qualified officer with four Master degrees (MA English, MA TEFL, MA Pol. Sci and MA Oriental Language) and M. Phil (Applied Linguistics) with flying colors securing 3.84 CGPA. My five research papers have published in the international conferences proceedings. And, four research papers on the topics of education, media, language and gender and war studies are under publication with international journals.

Describe your success in your professional life and achievements

I am the first ever Civil Awardee (Tamgha-i-Imtiaz) officer i the 62 years of of my department. I have been a central figure in my organization in the fields of official correspondence, rules and regulations and pedagogy. I have been a part of the teams involved in revision of syllabus for professional courses, seeking government's approval for enhancement of equipment scale of the force. I have been an instructor of communication and language skills of the Lady Rangers and junior officers. I secured first position with scholarship in Business Communication Course while representing my department at UET, Lahore.

Write your activities and achievement if you were member of any club or society in UMT?

I am the only civil awardee Vice President SSS&H/ILA Alumni Executive Body, UMT. I have the honor to draft the first ever constitution of Alumni Association of UMT(2020). I represented UMT in the 2nd International Conference of the Linguistic Association of Pakistan, held at Institute of Languages, University of the Punjab, Lahore from 18 - 20 October 2016. Being group leader, my poster presentation "Honorifics: A dying tradition of Urdu language" was declared the Best Poster Presentation. My research paper "A virtual face: Availability of disability services information on Universities' websites" was published in HEC Approved 'Y' category Journal The Linguistic and Literature Review (October 2016). I have taught English language to BBA (Hons) students of SBE, UMT during semester Spring 2017. I made a farewell speech on behalf of Batch 18 of M. Phil (AL) during the Annual Dinner of DELL 2016. I remained group leader in all the activities and lead my team to the laurels.

What do you remember about your time in ILM / IMT /UMT?

UMT is a great place to learn, flourish, socialize and groom. During my stay (2015-2017), UMT proved to be one of the best higher education institution of the country. While moving on electric wheelchair, I touched the horizons of success. I was able to bring fame and name for UMT both at national and international level. I would love to be part of UMT as Ph. D scholar and faculty member.
