Describe the work that you do in your role

Planning Department (2nd Feb 2009 – Present)
- Preparation Statement of work (SOW) documents for different types of communication projects related to (PABXs, Fiber Optic Networks, VSAT network and Tactical communication systems).
- Preparing Request for Proposal (RFP) and Request for Information (RFI).
- Performing site survey and analyzing the requirements.
- Planning for OSP (PVC, Cabling, Joints, Handholes, and Manholes) and ISP (Systems, Cable Terminations) infrastructure.
- Planning for upgrading RSADF legacy telephone exchanges and associated infrastructure.
- Planning for upgrading Fiber Optic systems and associated infrastructure.
- Planning for Copper and Fiber cabling and associated infrastructure.
- Planning for Circuits/Channels distributions among different sites.
- Follow-up various projects activities.
- Evaluating projects proposals.
- Planning for developing a Database Management System for all kind of communication networks and associated infrastructure.
- Planning and Coordination with STC to transport TDM (Legacy Circuit) over MPLS network.
- Planning for Tactical Networks such as HF/VHF/UHF radios and Tactical Switches.
- Conducting trails for solving various types of communication related problems and for testing the features of telecommunication products.

Exchange Section
- Troubleshooting/Maintenance and administration of Nortel/Avaya PABX (CS 1000) multi group, dual core call processor system at Air Defence Head quarter Riyadh.
- Troubleshooting/Maintenance and administration of Nortel/Avaya small and medium size Telephone Exchange at various remote sites of RSADF.
- Digital, Analog and IP Telephone (subscriber) administration through command line interface and unified communication manager.
- Configuration/Programming of PRI trunks to connect remote sites via dedicated MODA and STC leased lines.
Fiber Maintenance Section
- Troubleshooting/Maintenance and administration of legacy SDH systems from Ericsson (STM1, STM4, and STM16).
- Troubleshooting/Maintenance and administration of (NG-SDH) systems from Ericsson (OMS-1240, OMS1684).
- Troubleshooting/Maintenance and administration of legacy PDH systems from Ericsson (2/8, 8/34, 34/140, 140/565).
- Troubleshooting/Maintenance and administration of Universal Multiplexer UMUX systems from Keymile (1300, 1500).
- Troubleshooting/Maintenance and administration of Fiber SDH fiber system through NMS (Optical Service Core 2).
- Cross Connections administration at various tributary and aggregate signal levels through local controller and NMS.
- Testing fiber optic cable with OTDR.
Tactical Communication Section (C3 Early Warning Project for Alternative Air Defence Command & Control Centre)
- Installation and Configuration of Tactical Military Exchanges (CPX200) and Operator Consoles (MLT210) in all the Air Defence Sites.
- Configuration/Programming of subscriber numbers, Hotlines, Conferences, broadcast Groups.
- Preparation of technical system site documents and Technical training for military personals.

I contributed in achieveing the organizational goals by following ways:

Enhancing the projects outcomes by developing cost effictve and robust solutions.
Developing new formats for describing the projects SOW and RFP.
Defining organizational standards for accepting the technical system documents from bidders.

What do you remember about your time in ILM / IMT /UMT?

I still remembered the close association bewteen the facility and students. The facility at UMT provided a very friendly atmosphere for students and bridge the gap for transfering the knowledge.My special thanks to Mr. Salaam Ata for boosting my moral and for his valuable time that he provided during the MS-TE studies.
